The Strängnäs-based Leine & Linde, one of the world's leading manufacturers of encoders, is to open a branch in New Delhi. The reason for this new venture is in part to provide local service to existing customers that are active on the Indian market. A number of them are major global companies in the field of automation.
Somnath Mukherjee, Country Manager at Leine & Linde in New Delhi.
"India, with 1.2 billion inhabitants, is one of the largest countries in the world, and its population is growing by approximately 18 million each year. The domestic Indian market for encoders is significant and there are excellent opportunities for Leine & Linde to seize new market shares in the future. Speaking the customer's language and being close to them in purely geographical terms is an important part of this work," says Somnath Mukherjee, the office manager at Leine & Linde in New Delhi.
Leine & Linde already has an agency office in China. "Setting up in another Asian country is part of our policy to support all of our customers with a high level of availability and service," says Björn Zetterlund, CEO of Leine & Linde.
"A lot of major companies that Leine & Linde supplies as a subcontractor are moving their production to India and to other parts of Asia. At the same time we have several international OEM customers and machine builders that are increasingly exporting to India. These are important reasons for Leine & Linde to want a permanent presence in New Delhi," concludes Björn Zetterlund.
