Test results pointed to Leine & Linde
Wind power is the fastest growing renewable energy source in the world. Siemens Wind Power in Denmark is one of the operators in the wind power industry that has chosen Leine & Linde as a supplier of absolute encoders.

Siemens Wind Power has operations in Denmark, Germany, the UK and the USA. The company has a total of 4,700 employees worldwide, and they are promoted by the company itself as its most important resource.
Karsten Jeppesen, sales manager at Leine & Linde in Denmark, has noticed a sharp increase in sales of encoders in the wind power sector over the past two years, due largely to an increasingly strong general desire to reduce environmentally-harmful emissions in Denmark.
Optimising generator speed
Siemens wind turbines have encoders attached to each rotor blade and also installed in the actual tower. The positional information from the encoders is used by the main control system to optimise generator speed relative to wind speed and direction.
Thomas Holm Krogh is one of the development engineers at Siemens Wind Power. He explains that they chose Leine & Linde's products after endless reviewing and testing of various encoder models and makes.
"The reason for our final choice of Leine & Linde was the uniquely high quality," says Thomas.
