Leine Linde introduces inductive incremental encoders in the 600 series

It’s about time: Built to keep production running in the toughest industrial environments.

Leine Linde introduces inductive incremental encoders in the 600 series

Leine Linde is proud to introduce new incremental variants within the 600 series. These tough and space-efficient encoders are based on inductive scanning technology and designed for harsh environments such as sawmills and food processing industries.

With the introduction of incremental variants, the 600 series now offers both absolute and incremental functionality on the same robust platform. The result is a complete encoder family that delivers reliable speed and position feedback in demanding industrial applications where uptime is critical.

“Many applications rely on incremental encoders for speed and motion control, but harsh environments demand more than conventional solutions,” says Mikael Lidström, Product Manager at Leine Linde. “By adding inductive incremental technology to the 600 series, we provide stable and reliable signals even where contamination, vibration, or moisture are unavoidable.”

Inductive technology for reliable performance

The new incremental models in the 600 series are based on inductive scanning technology. Unlike other scanning technologies, inductive technology is inherently resistant to humidity, dust, dirt, condensation, magnetic and electrical fields, and strong vibration. This ensures stable signal quality over time, even in environments where other technologies may struggle.

Engineered and tested over time – built to last

The robustness of the 600 series is supported by a rugged mechanical design. Larger bearings than those typically found in conventional 58 mm encoders, combined with a high‑strength housing and attention to detail throughout the design, make the 600 series a proven solution for tough industrial use.

Large, durable bearings provide higher load tolerance and a longer service life—key advantages of the 600 series’ rugged mechanical design.

The platform offers multiple mechanical variants, including solid shaft, hollow shaft, and bearingless designs. For the most challenging environments, a bearingless IP69/IPx9K version is available. Combined with stainless steel, it withstands aggressive cleaning agents and high‑pressure washdowns, making it suitable for food processing, chemical applications, and hygiene‑critical processes.

Incremental encoders for demanding environments

The Incremental 600 series is designed for industries with high mechanical and environmental demands. Typical applications include steel plants, sawmills, pulp and paper mills, cranes, wind turbines, marine installations, and other operations exposed to moisture, debris, or heavy vibration.

Interfaces for modern automation

The Incremental 600 series supports HTL, TTL, and RS‑422 interfaces. Across the 600 platform, a wide range of absolute interfaces are also available, including EnDat, SSI, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, CANopen, DRIVE‑CLiQ, PROFIsafe, and more—supporting integration into modern automation systems.

A complete encoder platform

Leine Linde delivers robust encoder solutions backed by world‑leading precision technology. With the addition of inductive incremental functionality, the 600 series becomes a complete encoder platform for speed and position feedback, built on one durable design.

“For our customers, reliability over time is key,” Mikael adds. “With the incremental variants, the 600 series offers a long‑term, high‑performance solution for industries where it’s all about time – your time.”
